Premier Kale
A few years ago, I planted Premier kale for the first time. After tasting it, I knew I would return to growing this variety again.
The leaves were tender and even the rib was largely edible and juicy. It has a bright pleasing flavor (as far as kale goes). That some leaves get large is an added bonus.
So for the last few years I have grown it. It’s done well every year so far.

I Wanna Be A Wrapper When I Grow Up
Recently, I started experimenting with using the leaves for kale wraps. I’ve been using them raw — first taking away most of the stem, and then adding fillings. Blanching and then wrapping is also an option.
From my first attempts I realized that there are better and worse ways to fill and wrap. Considerations include what types of fillings work well and which are best to avoid.

This short video features some of my Premier Kale from Spring 2026, with examples of how huge the leaves get
I also show some of my first wrap attempts from August 2025.
It will clearly take me some time and experimentation to develop my kale wrapping skills. It can only be up from there. They look underwhelming, but they were tasty.
